Iiro Rantala is a preeminent Finnish pianist and a master of both classical and jazz piano. Iiro was born in 1970 and has studied at the Sibelius Academy and the Manhattan School of Music in New York. As a composer, Rantala has primarily written scores for trios but has also composed music for musicals and dance. His third solo album is a tribute to the Finnish mentality, humour and melancholy.
Iiro is happy playing both Mozart and his own jazz compositions at the same piano concert, hence the title of Rantala’s program for Saturday afternoon: “Between Classical and Jazz.”
