Helsingborg International Piano Festival 2019

29 August – 2 September
Dunkers kulturhus, Helsingborg, Sweden

This year’s Helsingborg Piano Festival features Marc-André Hamelin from Canada, Elisabeth Leonskaja from Russia, Haochen Zhang from China and Alexandre Kantorow from France.

At Saturday’s improvisational concert we get to listen to Finnish pianist Iiro Rantala play his program “Between Classical and Jazz.” As in previous years, there will also be lunch concerts, a master class, lectures and discussions.

The speaker for this year’s lecture is none other than author and pianist Paul Roberts. There will also be a musical discussion between Haochen Zhang and Per Nyrén, producer of the piano festival. Both events will be held in English.

Lunch concerts and Master Class

As in previous years, the festival will be complemented by first class lunch concerts that are free of charge. This year, the pianists will be: Anaîs Cassiers, Sebastian Ivonen, Astri Aareskjold, Samuel Eriksson, Pontus Carron and Nikita Khnykin. All of whom are on the cusp on promising international careers.

The 2019 public Master Class will be led by Haochen Zhang, Paul Roberts and Rena Shereshevska. The latter is a professor who teaches at the distinguished institutions Alfred Cortot Superior and Ruel Malmaison i Paris.

The Helsingborg Piano Festival is a collaboration with Musik i Syd.
